School Nutrition Garden (SNGs) in Schools

This is to inform you that the Head Teachers/Head Master/Principals of all schools covered under Mid-Day Meal Scheme are requested to set up School Nutrition Gardens(SNG) in their respective school campuses as per guidelines of School Nutrition Garden issued by the Govt. of India, MHRD. The Guideline may be downloaded from the guideline page. 

Some of the important points of the guideline are summed up below:-

1)    Each & every school covered under Mid-Day Meal Scheme must have School Nutrition Garden irrespective of availability of land. Plants may be grown in small containers, cans, jars, discarded earthen pots, wooden peti, ceramic sinks, food tins, bags where land is not available for SNG.

2)    Along with the plantation of seasonal vegetables of winter & summer seasons,plants/shrubs having vegetables & fruits throughout the year in all seasons and fit in with local food habits should be planted and nutured.As for example,papaya plant.

3)    The scientific name as well as local name along with nutritional value of each plant/shrub must be displayed properly.

4)    Eco Club headed by the Principal/Head Master/Head teacher, enthusiastic children, SMC Members & interested persons from the community may look after the development of School Nutrition Gardens.

5)    A register in this regard is to be maintained by every school which will include columns for recording item wise total weight of the produce as & when utilized from the School Nutrition Garden. A format for the same is given hereunder.

Release of Honorarium to the Cook cum helpers for the month of August'19 and September'19

The honorarium for the month of  August'19 & September'19 is released from the State Mission Office, MDMS ,Assam to the Bank Accounts of Cook cum Helpers engaged in the schools under MDMS .

Allocations of Food-grains to SMCs for the month of August &September'2019

Food-grains to the School Managing Committees has been released for the 2nd Qtr of FY 2019-20

Quantity of Food grains released:-
                                            Lower Primary Stage:  3404.18 Qntls
                                            Upper Primary Stage:  2575.20 Qntls

Transportation Cost to SMCs against Lifting of Rice for the Financial Year 2018-19

The transportation Cost @Rs.36/-per  quintal is directly released to 1792 no.s of SMC's  MDM Bank Accounts against lifting of Food-grains(Rice) from GPSS Agents,Fair price shops etc. for the Financial Year 2018-19.

Release of Cooking Cost to the SMCs for April'19 & May'19

The Cooking Cost under Mid Day Meal Scheme has been released to the MDM Accounts of School Management Committee's for the month of April'19 & May'19 from the State Mission Office,MDMS,Assam.The detailed list can be downloaded from the Cooking Cost page.

Release of fund for procurement of Handwash soap and detergent powder under Mid Day Meal Scheme

A fund of Rs 450/- per school is released to the MDM Bank Accounts of the SMCs for procurement of Hand wash soap and detergent powder under Mid Day Meal Scheme for the FY 2019-20 through RTGS(NEFT Mode) from the State Mission Office,MDMS,Assam.

Revision of Cooking Cost @3.09% w.e.f 1/4/2019 during 2019-20

The MHRD,Govt. of India has decided to increase cooking cost @3.09% w.e.f 01/04/2019 for the Financial Year 2019-20 over and above the existing cooking cost for the Financial Year 2018-19.The rates of enhanced cooking cost will be admissible w.e.f 01/04/2019 during the Financial Year 2019-20 for the Primary and Upper Primary Stage as under:
